Barcelona manager Luis Enrique said he was shocked by the wild knee-high challenge on Lionel Messi that saw Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis receive a straight red card.
Enrique immediately rose to his feet when contact was made and the Spaniard pulled no punches when questioned on the incident.
"Did you see my reaction? Then you can imagine what I was thinking. It shocked me but I am not going to go into details about it," he told a news conference at the Nou Camp.
The victory ensure Barcelona remain La Liga leaders ahead with 3 points with an outstanding game.
They still remain unbeaten in their last 26 games in all competitions.
